Last saturday my brother and his wife had a party to celebrate their marriage.
They got married in Las Vegas in January, which is awfully romantic of course, but that way nobody could be with them when they tied the knot except for my oldest brother who lives in the U.S. with his family.
So luckily they decided to throw a little party to make their family and friends happy! It was a lovely day at a beautiful location and everyone was happy.
Chickens running around, the BBQ was... BBQing(?), green, trees and flowers all around, perfect! My brother and sister in law asked me to take my camera with me to take a few pictures during the day so I thought that I could share my best shots with the interwebz! And of course the outfit I wore during the day.
(me and my man)
and a picture of me in action!
My newest nail art! Thanks to the striping and dotting!
Now the pictures I took:
A portrait of my big sis and her boyfriend
The very charming boyfriend of my sister
The very charming big sister
My own lovely man!
My sister and her boyfriend sneaking away
My brother and our dad
My beautiful sister in law
I'm extremely happy with this picture. It's super romantic and sweet.
As is this one!
The super cute daughter of a friend of the bride and groom.
A very stylish friend of the bride and groom.
A very happy brother!
A very happy couple.
Now some pictures of the place where they had the party:
This is the lovely leg of my sister in law, I got her a blue garter belt as a little silly present.
I had the whole 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue' in my head so this was already something new and blue. Convenient, no? :-D
I think the pictures turned out really well and it was a great day.
Congrats again to my bro and sis in law!

Stripe and dotting tools + outfit
YEAH when I came home I found this lovely package in my mailbox! My secondhand nailart set! Including lots of awesome colors, thin brushes and a dotting tool! Check out the yummy colors!
(my cat totally photobombed my nailpolish a couple of times! The attentionwhore! :-D)
(I got the essence nailart with it too, and the light blue orly polish)
This is just awesome. If you hold the bottle upside down with the dotter on your nail, you can squeeze the bottle lightly and the most perfect little dots will show up out of the dotter! I'm so happy with this, I'm sure I'll be able to make the best nailart ever! Also, it came in this super cute Catrice make up bag:
I strongly recommend the girl that sold me these polishes. She's really sweet, makes awesome nailart and the packaging was done very neatly! Go check out her blog: http://www.fashionisaparty.com/2011/07/nail-polish-blogsale.html
Now, for my outfit!
The blouse used to have long sleeves but I have trouble with the cut of blouses. When it comes to the waist area I can easily fit into a size 10 or 8 but when it comes to shoulders/boobs/upper arms, I really need a 12. Of course, when I buy my tops at freaking T2 everything fits like a glove but I bought this one at an online shop because I loved the print so much. I still do and the sleeves were just a bit too uncomfortable. So snippety snip and I have a super cute sleeveless blouse!
It looks very nice with all my skirts and I love the look of a sleeveless shirt on a cutoff jeans. It has this kind of sixties housewife/Rock n' roll fan vibe. I used to be really scared to get a little DIY with my clothes because of the chances that I might screw up a perfectly good piece of clothing. Now, I just think 'well, there will be other clothes if this goes wrong.'. Plus, chances are I wouldn't wear it anyways because of the uncomfortableness (?) so I might as well take the chance. I'm glad I did!
My nails look better in real life. :-D As everything always does!
Now that I have my ULTRA professional nailart stuff I'm gonna be thinking of something super cool to put on my nails for my brother and sister in law's 'late wedding reception' I guess you could call it. :-D I bought these beautiful orange reddish peacockfeather print earrings and I'll be wearing a light blue ish dress so I'm gonna do a funky orange nail with it, I think. I first thought of doing something with blue and purple but that's a little boring for my taste if I'm already wearing something blue. It's much more fun to be a little overdressed than underdressed so I'll go all out!
Song of the day:
Roger Daltrey - Days of Light
I really need to check out his solo stuff. I love this kind of music. I love Roger. I'll shut up now before I go on one of my "OMG I wanna marry Roger and The Who because.." rants. Seriously though, I can't freaking believe he's 67. He's the evidence that people don't have to get ugly and inactive when aging. I hope he'll keep touring and singing until the day he dies, which will be when he will turn 254 because that's the earliest that I MIGHT allow him to die. :-D

Helpless Dancer
This is the outfit I wore the day after the infamous Roger Daltrey concert. Still in a ‘The Who’ mood, obviously :-D. I’ve been obsessed with the band after I came back from the concert and I have been watching ‘Tommy’ and ‘Quadrophenia’ live with the commentary of Roger and Pete, explaining how they came to write the songs and the circumstances around the songs, what the songs are about etc.. I love it. I find it very interesting to give it my own meaning too but to know what was going on in Pete Townshend’s brilliant mind while he wrote all those magnificent songs is just awesome.
One of the things that I love about ‘The Who’ is that Pete wrote a lot of songs about being a teenager/being from the generation that comes after a generation that fucked a lot of things up. He never talks about it in a condescending way, never ‘when I was a silly teenager I used to think I had it all figured out and this song is about the stupidity of young people’ and all that stuff. I always find it both very irritating and a little funny that, once people turn 20/21 or something, a lot of them start talking about their teenage years like it happened 20 years ago and that they’ve grown a lot cooler and smarter since than. I do understand that yes, there are stereotypical teenagers that start whining about wanting a tattoo and a pierced eyebrow and if they don’t get it, they scream ‘GOD I HATE YOU’ and slam the door in your face but a lot of teenagers are also just teenagers. Just the age of 10+… years. You are very easily put in that tiny little box that claims that any teenager and their opinions should just not be taken seriously because they are emotional and what not.
Quadrophenia, one of my favorite albums of The Who and one of my favorite albums in general, tells the story of Jimmy, a troubled teenager with a multiple personality disorder. Growing up in a post war England in the sixties he feels he doesn’t belong anywhere. Not with his parents, not at school, not with his gang, not at his dead end job and his relationship with his girlfriend isn’t all that either. He gets into fights, abuses alcohol and drugs, he feels so screwed up and he doesn’t know what to do with his life. It’s such a universal story that everyone, teenager/drugabuser/mod or not, can relate to. If you strip down the story you just see that the songs are about a confused human being, trying to make sense of the world he/she unwillingly came into. And yes, while we all go out and go to school/work/whatever and have our family to take care of and have relationships and fun, we all sometimes feel like we’re a tiny little speck in this universe of trouble and worries. All the lyrics of all the songs on ‘Quadrophenia’ are just genious and I really recommend everyone to take a listen to the songs.
The thing that I love most about The Who is that, while they are already making music for forty years and are getting a little older, their music and their message never ages. While I do love me some Beatles, I never really feel an emotional connection with their lyrics. Not as much as with The Who, anyways. Everyone sometimes feels like a Jimmy or a Tommy, unheard and confused. Of course we carry on with our lives as we should but sometimes it’s just nice to listen to those songs and feel that you’re not alone.
(Lyrics)
When a man is running from his boss
Who holds a gun that fires cost
And people die from being old
Or left alone because they're cold
And bombs are dropped on fighting cats
And children's dreams are run with rats
If you complain you disappear
Just like the lesbians and queers
No one can love without the grace
Of some unseen and distant face
And you get beaten up by blacks
Who though they worked still got the sack
And when your soul tells you to hide
Your very right to die's denied
And in the battle on the streets
You fight computers and receipts
And when a man is trying to change
It only causes further pain
You realize that all along
Something in us going wrong...
You stop dancing.
(I don't mind other guys dancing with my girl
That's fine
I know them all pretty well(Is it me? For a moment?)
Who holds a gun that fires cost
And people die from being old
Or left alone because they're cold
And bombs are dropped on fighting cats
And children's dreams are run with rats
If you complain you disappear
Just like the lesbians and queers
No one can love without the grace
Of some unseen and distant face
And you get beaten up by blacks
Who though they worked still got the sack
And when your soul tells you to hide
Your very right to die's denied
And in the battle on the streets

The kids are alright
Imma start posting my outfits on blogspot too! Hope I can keep it up to post it on here AND chictopia but I'll do my best. First: mah art!:
Ah, so proud! I took some pictures of one of the cutest kids I've ever seen but her mom didn't want them on my blog so alas no cigar! My nature pictures and mister toad are good too, right? :-D I was watering the flowers and BOING, a little toad hops out of the flowers. Scared the shit outta me but it didn't take long for me to realise I had to run inside and get my camera because mister toad is a pretty one! He changed his angle a little for me when I started taking pictures which was really sweet of him. When he had enough, he hopped away. Too bad, I could've taken some shots of his back too if he stayed. But oh well, I got some nice ones of his little toadface! Apart from those, I particularly like the pictures with the white and yellow flowers. It strikes me as an ultimate summer shot. Warm colors, flowers, movement, depth, all kinds of plants wildly growing together, love! Here's a batch of pictures and I'll post my outfit for today a little later! Have a lovely day!
