Landscapes

My next assignment was "landscapes" and to be honest, I wasn't all that thrilled about it. When I think of landscapes of course I think of pretty pictures. Postcards you get from a distant relative who went to Switzerland. But not a very exciting assignment. Luckily, I'm a perfectionist and I didn't want to settle for any old picture of some pretty scenery. I wanted to make sure that I did something a little different and tried to play with colors and perspectives. I'm pretty pleased with my pictures and my teacher was too. So I felt like a very happy photographer in the making after showing these pictures in class and getting some very good commentary. Life has been good to me, lately, and I'm loving it. Flower power

Obviously another macro post again! Can't help it, it's mah thing. I still had some pictures from the same day as the last post, next post I'll try to do some wide angle too. Hope you still enjoy it, though. :-) The first two pictures are taken with my sisters 50 mm lens, so jealous. It was my present for her at her last birthday but don't think I wasn't tempted to keep it for myself! :-D The next lens I purchase wil definitely be a 50 mm one!

Bonus snails!

Naomi and the giant grasshopper

My mother was asked to housesit for someone with amazing garden so I obviously I had to snap some shots there! While crawling around (literally) with my macrolens ready I found some beautiful details to take pictures of. For one, this gorgeous big grasshopper! He was almost, if not just as big as my pinkie. He modelled very graciously for me. When I look at insects through my macrolens I always think of "James and the giant peach", one of my favorite movies as a kid. It's been at least six years since I've seen it but I still love all the characters. The smoky Miss Spider, Pop eye like Centipede, the posh Grasshopper who plays beautiful music on his violin etc... the songs in the movie are wonderful, as is the animation. Anyways, have fun looking at Mister Grasshopper in his natural habitat! And some other shots, of course. Hope you're having a wonderful summer!

I really recommend clicking on the images to see them in their full size! The detail in some of the shots is just astonishing, if I may say so myself. :-D

Mix of hobbies and some random nature shots

I was playing around with my crayons and I thought "well dang nuggit, why haven't I tried this before?" when this idea popped into my head. Let's mix my photography with my drawing!

This was a little experiment and I was very pleased with it, I might do another thing like this with pencils!

But of course, a photography post of mine wouldn't be complete without my usual batch of flowers and out-doorsyness! :-D

It's been a while since I took these pictures, hopefully I'll have enough time on my hands to take a new batch this weekend!
