Face dances

My next assignment was "portraits". I wasn't super excited about this assignment, mostly because I was intimidated by the idea of having to tell people what to do. Turns out, it wasn't all that much of a problem and I did a great job, even with working with models. I had great fun, I had vivid and strong ideas of what I wanted my pictures to look like and my teacher was very happy with the pictures. He told me that I definitely have potential in this field and, possibly, a future. Obviously I was basically giggling like a buffoon while he told me these things. If there's something that gives me a great, fuzzy feeling inside it's when people "feel" something when they look at my pictures. It's a feeling I can't describe. And I always get a bit of a kick out of seeing my pictures displayed on a big screen. I had to take one picture in class with a model I didn't know, two pictures of people I knew at home and one self-portrait.

So proud of myself. I'M AN ARTIST MOFO'S. :-D Hope you like the pictures!

Marry the night

My first serious stab at night photography. Again, an assignment in my photography course. I remember mucking about with night photography when I first started out with photography. Needless to say that wasn't a big succes because my camera was crappy and I didn't even own a tripod. Mission impossible right there. Night photography requires a lot more patience and skills than err, day photography. First it's a bit frustrating and it takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it a little it's just as awesome as "regular" photography. Plus you can experiment a lot with lighting and slow shutterspeed. Definitely something I'm gonna try out more in the future. I'll share the ones I think were the best and one with a bit of experimentation.

I can't help but think of "Back to the future" when I look at pictures with these kinds of lights in them. I've said it once and I will say it many times again: "ROADS?! Where we're going we don't need "roads"!

I also tried writing my name in the air with a little light but it's not all that clear that my name is actually "Naomi". Not too bad for a first try though, right? :-D

Next time I'll try some poetry. Tell me what your favorites are!

Hope you enjoyed my pictures!

Imitation of life

Long time no post! I will be posting more regularly on this blog now, since I started my photography course and I'm forced to take pictures at least once a week. I've been having the greatest time and am thoroughly enjoying the assignments. This weeks assignment is "still life" and I wanted to share some pictures! Let me know which one is your favorite! It was quite a challenge for me, as I'm more of a nature photographer. I  capture things as they are most of the time, so really creating a complete picture was a little more difficult but also a lot of fun! It keeps me thinking outside of the box.

Thank you!

Flower power

Obviously another macro post again! Can't help it, it's mah thing. I still had some pictures from the same day as the last post, next post I'll try to do some wide angle too. Hope you still enjoy it, though. :-) The first two pictures are taken with my sisters 50 mm lens, so jealous. It was my present for her at her last birthday but don't think I wasn't tempted to keep it for myself! :-D The next lens I purchase wil definitely be a 50 mm one!

Gorgeous, right?

Bonus snails!

Mix of hobbies and some random nature shots

I was playing around with my crayons and I thought "well dang nuggit, why haven't I tried this before?" when this idea popped into my head. Let's mix my photography with my drawing!

This was a little experiment and I was very pleased with it, I might do another thing like this with pencils!
But of course, a photography post of mine wouldn't be complete without my usual batch of flowers and out-doorsyness! :-D
It's been a while since I took these pictures, hopefully I'll have enough time on my hands to take a new batch this weekend!
